Texas Bound - Hopkins, Trinity (TX) Ink Two-Year Scheduling Agreement

Blue Jays to Play at Trinity in 2027, Tigers to Visit Homewood in 2028

BALTIMORE, MD – Dan Wodicka, the James F. Margraff Head Coach of Football at Johns Hopkins University, announced a two-year scheduling agreement with Trinity (TX) for the 2027 and 2028 seasons today.  Johns Hopkins will play at Trinity on Saturday, September 18, 2027, while the Tigers will visit Homewood Field on Saturday, September 16, 2028.  The game at Trinity will be played in the evening (6 pm or 7 pm (CT)), while the game in Baltimore will be played at 1 pm.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to add Trinity to our schedule for the upcoming 2027 and 2028 seasons," Wodicka stated.  "Our goal is to annually play the most challenging non-conference schedule in the nation and adding a highly-successful Trinity program will help us achieve that goal.  We have a strong recruiting and alumni base in the state of Texas and I look forward to our game in San Antonio in 2027.  Similarly, welcoming a remarkable Trinity team to Homewood Field is something we are equally excited for and I'm certain the entire Johns Hopkins community will enjoy one of Division III's great non-conference games in 2028."

Since 2021, the first season after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 season, Johns Hopkins and Trinity have been two of the most successful programs in the nation, setting up an exciting inter-regional non-conference matchup.

Johns Hopkins has amassed a record of 56-8 with two Centennial Conference titles, four trips to the NCAA Playoffs and two appearances in the NCAA Semifinals since the start of the 2021 season; the Blue Jays are also 9-4 in the NCAA Playoffs in that time . Trinity has qualified for the NCAA Playoffs in each of the last five seasons, has won four SAA titles and has posted a record of 48-9 with four NCAA Playoff victories since 2021.

"Head coach Jerheme Urban has guided the Tigers to a remarkable run of success with his players achieving at the highest level on the field while competing academically at one of the strongest institutions in the nation," Wodicka added.  "There are so many similarities between our programs and I could not be more thankful to him and the leadership teams at Johns Hopkins and Trinity that helped make this series a reality."
