The Short Story: Returning to the courts for the first time in nearly 13 months, the Johns Hopkins men's tennis team beat visiting Franklin & Marshall, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas Yu gave Hopkins an early 1-0 lead when they beat Adrian Charchalis and Adith Chandavarkar, 8-4, at first. Junior
Ryan Hellinger and sophomore
Andrew Tran followed with an 8-4 win over Anthony Casale and Isaac Rokower at third. Freshman
Daniel Ardila and senior
Vishnu Joshi closed out doubles and completed the Blue Jays' sweep with an 8-6 win at second over Justin Pace and Tristan Stefe.
• Joshi pushed Hopkins' lead to 4-0 with a quick 6-1, 6-2 win over Charcalis at first singles. Pace then got the Diplomats on the board when he defeated
James Yu, 6-3, 6-4 at second. Junior
Brian Wang clinched the win for Hopkins with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Steffe at third.
• Senior
Robby Simon cruised to an 8-1 win at sixth over Ben Cooke to put JHU up 6-1. Tran then defeated Rockower, 8-2, at fifth. Senior
Eric Yoo closed out the match with a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 7-5 win over Casale at fourth.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 32-33 all-time against Franklin & Marshall and has won 21 straight in the series. The Blue Jays and the Diplomats last met in the 2019 Centennial Conference semifinals after the 2020 season was cancelled.
• The Blue Jays have won four straight matches, dating back to the start of the 2020 season. In addition, JHU has now won 34 straight Centennial Conference regular season matches and 116 of their last 117.
• The Yu brothers and Ardila all earned their first career collegiate doubles wins.
