Johns Hopkins Cruises to Shutout of Gettysburg

• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team posted its third straight shutout on Saturday with a 9-0 win over visiting Gettysburg.
 
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays dropped just two games in doubles play as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the Bullets. Sophomores Anjali Devireddy and Emily Javedan picked up an 8-1 win over Alex Rieg and Gillian Rosenfeld at first. Freshman Ali Bader and graduate student Sophia Strickland blanked Tierney Cantwell and Alexis Rinker, 8-0, at second. Juniors Jessica Liang and Sophie Saland were 8-1 winners at third over Shelby Deron and Niki Melnick.
• Bader dropped just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles over Rieg. Strickland then clinched the win for Hopkins with a shutout over Rinker at third. Devireddy followed with a 6-0, 6-3 defeat of Rosenfeld at first and JHU led 6-0.
• Liang pushed the Blue Jays' lead to seven when she blanked Cantwell, 8-0. Saland beat Melnick by the same score in her win at fifth. Freshman Hallie Gallo closed things out with an 8-1 defeat of Deron at sixth.  
 
What it Means
• Hopkins is now 21-15 all-time against Gettysburg and has won 20 straight in the series.
• The Blue Jays extend their regular season conference win streak to 135.
• Strickland is now just three wins shy of reaching the 100-win mark for her career. She is seventh in school history with 97 combined wins. She is tied for 11th with 44 career singles wins and is seventh with 53 career doubles wins.

• Hopkins is back on the road on Saturday, April 24 as the Blue Jays visit the Ursinus Bears. The match is slated for a 1:00 pm start in Collegeville, PA.
