BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse swept the Big Ten Weekly Awards after the Blue Jays sweep of host and 23^rd-ranked Michigan last weekend. This is the second time since JHU joined the league in 2017, that the Blue Jays have swept the weekly awards.
 
Graduate student Maggie Schneidereith was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week as well as the IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week. Senior Trinity McPherson was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, sophomore Madison McPherson was named the Midfielder of the Week and Abbey Hurlbrink was selected as the Freshman of the Week.
 
Schneidereith totaled nine goals and three assists and two ground balls. She scored twice and assisted on a third in Thursday's overtime win and followed that with a seven-goal, two-assist performance on Saturday. Schneidereith's seven goals and nine points are both career highs and her seven goals are one shy of the school record. She ranks second on the Blue Jays in goals (25) and assists (16) and is third in points (41). This is her third career B1G Offensive Player of the Week honor; she was also named Freshman of the Week in 2017.
 
Trinity McPherson earns her second career B1G Defensive Player of the Week selection as she anchored the defense in a sweep of the Wolverines. She picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover in Thursday's overtime win. She then forced two turnovers and scooped up a ground ball in Saturday's 20-11 win. McPherson leads the team with 24 caused turnovers and ranks second with 28 ground balls.
 
Madison McPherson garners her first B1G Midfielder of the Week honor with 14 draws, six ground balls and one caused turnover. On Thursday, she had a career-high seven draws, picked up four ground balls and caused a turnover that led to the game-winning goal. She followed that with seven draws and two ground balls in Saturday's win. McPherson is second on the team with 28 draws and is third in ground balls (20).

Hurlbrink was named B1G Freshman of the Week for the second time this season with three goals, four caused turnovers and six draws versus Michigan. She scored two goals, including the overtime winner, in Thursday's win. She also caused three turnovers, picked up a ground ball and controlled a draw. On Saturday, Hurlbrink scored a goal, caused a turnover and had five draws as the Blue Jays completed the sweep of the Wolverines. She ranks third on the team and is second among freshmen in the league in draws (26). Hurlbrink is also third in the Big Ten among freshman with 12 goals.
 
Hopkins returns to action on Thursday as the Blue Jays travel to State College, PA for the 2021 Big Ten Championship. JHU will take on sixth-seeded Penn State at 8:00 pm at Panzer Stadium.
