The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team opened NCAA Tournament play with a 6-0 win over Farmingdale State in the second round Friday morning.

• Hopkins jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with 8-0 wins at second and third doubles. Senior

Alexander Kernagis grabbed the first point of the match when they beat Mario Contreras and Cooper Everett at third. Freshmen

Thomas Yu then defeated Alan Sabovic and Matthew Waterhouse at second. Freshman

Andrew Tran then completed the doubles sweep as they beat Mark and Zachary Baker, 8-5, at first.

Daniel Ardila wasted little time in pushing Hopkins' lead to 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth over Colby Rodriguez.
James Yu then clinched the win and a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 when he beat Waterhouse 6-0, 6-0 at fourth.
Thomas Yu near simultaneously won his match, beating Sabovic 6-0, 6-0 at third.

What it Means
• Today's match was the first-ever meeting between Hopkins and Farmingdale State. Hopkins is now 19-14 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including 12-2 in the second round.
• Hopkins improves to 9-0 on the season and has won 12 straight dating back to last season.
