BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins University junior quarterback
Ryan Stevens has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 49-21 win over Ursinus on Saturday. This is the second consecutive week that Stevens has been named the CC's Offensive Player of the Week. In addition, he was also named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for the second consecutive week as well.
Â
Stevens played just the first half and two drives in the third quarter of Johns Hopkins' victory against the Bears, but was 22-of-25 for 364 yards with six touchdowns against one interception. He set a school record for passing yards in a quarter with 197 during the Blue Jays' 35-point second quarter; the 35 points are tied for the most points Johns Hopkins has ever scored in a quarter. He is the first Blue Jay quarterback to throw six touchdown passes in a game since Jon Germano threw six in a win against Ursinus in 2016 – the six touchdown passes were one shy of the Johns Hopkins and Centennial Conference single-game records.
Â
Through two games, Stevens is 53-of-71 (.746) for 847 yards and 11 touchdowns with two interceptions. He currently leads the nation in passing yards and touchdown passes and ranks second in passing yards per game (423.5), fourth in pass efficiency (220.3) and 10
th in completion percentage. Stevens is directing a Blue Jay offense that ranks seventh in the nation in total offense (556.0) and 10
th in scoring offense (51.0).
Â
Johns Hopkins (2-0, 1-0 Centennial), which jumped to number 21 in this week's D3football.com Poll, will return to action on Saturday, September 18 when the Blue Jays travel to Juniata (0-2, 0-1) to take on the Eagles.
