The Short Story: The second-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey used a four-goal second quarter to take control of the game en route to a 6-0 win over host Randolph-Macon Wednesday night.
Â
How it Happened
• After a scoreless first quarter, the Blue Jay offense erupted with four goals in a 10-minute span to take a 4-0 lead into the half. Junior
Anna Scott collected the rebound off a Gatlin Snyder save and took a shot that classmate
Sam Chabot redirected into the cage at 19:35. Freshman
Liz Falterer then slotted home a loose ball in traffic at 25:43 to stake Hopkins to a 2-0 lead.
• Just 30 seconds later, Falterer had her second goal of the night, when she buried a pass from junior
Tessa Erickson. Junior
Sadie Abboud pushed the lead to four with just 25 seconds remaining in the half with the first of her two goals. Erickson centered the ball from the left endline into the circle. Abboud collected the ball, turned and beat Snyder from three yards out.
• Hopkins didn't waste time in the third quarter as the Blue Jays scored just 2:12 into the quarter to go up 5-0. Freshman
Gen Mehra passed the ball in front of the Yellow Jackets' cage and Abboud was there to put it home. Senior
Maddie Brown-Scherer closed out the scoring at the 48:55-mark when she lofted a shot over Snyder from eight yards out.
