Johns Hopkins Cruises to 6-0 Win at Bridgewater

The Basics
• Score: #3 Johns Hopkins-6, Bridgewater-0
• Records: JHU (2-0) • BC (0-2)
• Location: Bridgewater, VA • Jopson Athletic Complex
• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins field hockey team exploded for four goals in the second and third quarters to fuel a 6-0 win over host Bridgewater.

How it Happened
Junior Tessa Erickson put Hopkins on the board with less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter, tapping home a pass from freshman Grace Nockolds. The Blue Jays then needed just 30 seconds in the second to double their lead. Junior Olivia Fox received an Erickson corner and passed to classmate Anna Fox, who blasted a shot past Brooke Hamm.
Sophomore Maura Minter pushed the lead to three midway through the second quarter when she tipped in a pass from senior Bryn Rolon at the left post. Two quick goals in the third quarter saw Hopkins go up 5-0 with just over 20 minutes to play. Nockolds put back her own rebound off a Hamm save the 8:45-mark. Just 47 seconds later, junior Sadie Abboud dribbled up the right side and scored from a tough angle to stake the Blue Jays to a five-goal lead.
Freshman Jenna Halpin closed out the scoring with 2:10 to play in the game when she finished off a scrum in front of the Eagles' cage.
