Johns Hopkins Rallies to Beat 13th-Ranked Lynchburg

The Basics
• Score: #3 Johns Hopkins-2, #13 Lynchburg-1
• Records: JHU (3-0) • UL (1-2)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: The third-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team scored a pair of goals less than six minutes apart late in the third to defeat 13th-ranked Lynchburg Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
• After a scoreless first half, Lynchburg broke through midway through the third quarter to take the 1-0 lead. Brittany Claybaugh dribbled into the Hopkins' circle and passed across to Meghan Mayo, who scored at the far post with 6:01 to play in the quarter.
• Just 35 seconds later, the teams were once again tied. Junior Siena Urbanksi intercepted a pass deep in the Hornets' zone, took two touches and then lofted a shot into the cage from eight yards out.
• Hopkins then grabbed the lead as the Blue Jays scored off a penalty corner as time expired in the third quarter. Junior Anna Scott received the corner at the top of the circle and blasted a shot toward the Lynchburg cage, where sophomore Gen Mehra tipped it up and over Kayla Brady to stake the Blue Jays to a 2-1 lead.

What it Means
