BALTIMORE, MD – The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team rode an early goal to a 1-0 win over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference action Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Jays jumped on the Mules early and scored what turned out to be the game's only goal just 98 seconds into the contest. Senior
Siena Urbanski sent a ball into the circle and it was redirected by graduate student
Abby Birk. Mules' goalie Grace Leard blocked it by the post. Senior
Sam Chabot pounced on the loose ball near the goal line and poked it in.

Olivia Fox beat Leard with a shot from the top of the circle, but Taylor Canfield cleared it off the line to keep it a one-goal game at 9:49 in the first. Midway through the third quarter, on a Muhlenberg corner, Nicole Randazza fired a shot that hit the left post. The ball ricocheted to Devon Eastlock, who had a shot at the right post, but senior
Anna Scott turned it aside.
Hopkins had advantages in shots (27-6) and corners (18-5). Senior

Alexis Loder and freshman
Phoebe Williams combined for the shutout. Seward made one save, while Williams made two. Leard finished with 11 saves for the Mules.
Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, October 19 at Franklin & Marshall. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
