Home Streaking
« Johns Hopkins ran its home winning streak to 11 games (dating back to 2019) with the 44-7 win last week against McDaniel.
« The 11-game home winning streak is just one shy of the school-record of 12 set twice previously (2014-15 / 2017-18). JHU also had an 11-game home winning streak that bridged the 2012-13 seasons and 10-game home streaks from 1996-97 and 2002-04.
« Since the start of the 2010 season, the Blue Jays are 58-7 (.892) at Homewood Field.
Jays Ninth in Scoring, Seventh in Total Offense
« Through 10 games, Johns Hopkins is averaging 45.4 points and 505.4 yards of total offense.
« The Blue Jays currently rank ninth in the nation in scoring offense and seventh in total offense.
« The 45.4 points per game is just behind last year's school-record average of 46.5, while the 505.4 yards per game the Blue Jays are averaging leaves them within striking distance of averaging 500 yards per game for just the sixth time in school history. The school-record for yards per game is 550.9 (2018).
Tracking the Offensive Record Book
« The 454 points JHU has scored this season ranks as the fifth-highest single-season total in school history. The fourth-best total is 497 (2016) and JHU has scored 500+ points just three times - and never in fewer than 12 games.
« The JHU single-season record for passing touchdowns is 39 (2018, 2021). JHU quarterbacks have currently combined to throw 36 TD passes this season.
Topping 300
« Johns Hopkins rushed for a season-high 309 yards in the recent win against Muhlenberg. The 309 yards are the most for Johns Hopkins since the Blue Jays rushed for 400 yards in a 58-27 win at sixth-ranked Frostburg in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Playoffs.
« The 309-yard rushing performance is the 38th 300-yard rushing game in school history. JHU is 38-0 all -time when rushing for 300+.
Rush Defense Among Nation's Best
« Through 10 games, the Blue Jays are allowing an average of just 76.2 yards per game on the ground to rank first in the Centennial Conference and 24th in the nation.
« The Blue Jays have held six of their last eight opponents to less than 80 yards rushing and have allowed a total of just 511 rushing yards in the last eight games (63.9 yards/game).
« Dating back to the start of the 2021 season (a span of 22 games), JHU has held the opposition to less than 80 yards rushing 13 times and less than 85 yards 14 times.
Tracking the Defensive Record Book
« Johns Hopkins is on pace to set a school record for fewest rushing yards allowed per game. With 76.2 yards per game allowed on the ground thus far, the Blue Jays are more than eight yards per game ahead of the record pace of 84.6 yards per game allowed in 2009.
« The school record for fewest total rushing yards allowed is 747 (1959). If JHU holds Stevenson to less than 138 yards on the ground, it would mark just the third time the Blue Jays have allowed less than 900 yards rushing through an entire season.
Schuermann In the JHU Record Book
« Johns Hopkins junior Luke Schuermann set a school record with six sacks in the win at F&M on October 1. The previous record of five had been held by Dave Goldman since 1987, when he notched five in a 19-6 win over Saint Peter's.
« Schuermann's six sacks also tied the Centennial Conference single-game record and he is the only player in the nation (at any NCAA school) with a six-sack game this season.
« Entering this week's game against Stevenson, Schuermann is tied for ninth in the nation (Division III) in sacks per game (1.10) and ranks fifth in tackles for loss per game (2.20).
« On the year, Schuermann ranks second on the team in tackles (62) and leads the team and the Centennial Conference in sacks (11.0) and tackles for loss (22.0). His 22 TFLs are a Johns Hopkins single-season record, while he needs just one sack to break Brian Cook's single-season school record for sacks (11.5 in 2004)
A Fraternity of Four
« Johns Hopkins quarterback Ryan Stevens enters this week's game having already enjoyed one of the great seasons in school history. He is currently 218-of-309 for 2,387 yards with 32 touchdowns against just five interceptions. He's also rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns on the year.
« With his effort last week against McDaniel, he now has 6,308 passing yards and 65 touchdown passes in his career and he joins Hewitt Tomlin (10,481 passing yards / 74 TDs), Jonathan Germano (6,623 / 68) and David Tammaro (10,319 / 85) as the only Johns Hopkins quarterbacks with more than 6,000 career passing yards and 60 touchdown passes.
« Stevens eclipsed the 5,000-yard mark in his 20th career game to break Tammaro's record for reaching 5,000 the fastest (21 games). For the record, both Stevens and Tammaro reached the mark in their 17th career start as Tammaro (4 games) and Stevens (3) saw limited time as freshmen.
Wolf Into Top 5, Top 15
« Senior running back Danny Wolf has rushed for 701 yards and eight touchdowns this season in seven games played. His efforts thus far in 2022 push his career totals 1,805 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on just 321 career carries.
« Wolf is now in sole possession of fourth place on JHU's career rushing touchdowns list and ranks 15th in career rushing yards.
Revere Ties Single-Game TDs Record
« Wide receiver Quinn Revere rang up eight catches for 123 yards and four touchdown receptions - all in the first half - against Gettysburg on October 23. For his efforts, he was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
« The four TD receptions tied the Johns Hopkins single-game record and mark just the third time a JHU player has had four TD catches in one game. College Football Hall of Famer Bill Stromberg had four against Georgetown in 1980, while Sam Wernick had four in a win at Susquehanna in 2010.
« With six receptions for 74 yards last week against McDaniel, Revere ran his 21-game career totals to 123 receptions for 1,743 yards and 23 touchdowns. He ranks 16th in school history in receptions, 17th in receiving yards and seventh in TD receptions.
200 ... and 10
« Nick Seidel, Johns Hopkins' career active leader in tackles (221), has been credited with 40 tackles through 10 games. He recorded the 200th tackle of his career in the win against Muhlenberg on the same night he added his 10th career interception. With another INT last week against McDaniel, he is now tied for 10th in school history in career interceptions with his 11.
« Seidel is the first Johns Hopkins player to reach 200 career tackles and 10 career interceptions since Matt Campbell rang up 256 tackles and 16 interceptions from 2001-04.
