BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team earned an automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament and will take on Lesley in a first round match on Saturday in Hartford, CT. Trinity will take on SUNY Geneseo in the other first round matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday's matchup will bring the first-ever matchup between the Blue Jays and the Lynx. Johns Hopkins have also never played against Trinity or SUNY Genesco in program history.
This will be the 20
th NCAA Tournament appearance for the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. The Blue Jays last missed the NCAA Tournament in 2004. Hopkins holds an all-time record of 31-18-3 in NCAA Tournament contests and a record of 8-5-2 in neutral site contests.
Johns Hopkins (17-0-2) received an automatic bid into the tournament after winning in the Centennial Conference championship against Dickinson 4-0. Lesley (12-7-1) defeated New England College in the NECC championship to earn an automatic bid into the tourney.
Trinity (14-1-2) received an at-large bid into the field after falling 3-0 to Wesleyan in the NESCAC championship. SUNY Geneseo (11-4-3) earned an auto bid into the field after defeating SUNY Cortland on penalties in the SUNYAC Championship.
Times and ticket information for the NCAA First and Second Rounds will be announced later today.
