Annie Gutierrez broke her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles to lead a slew of strong performances for Johns Hopkins at the NYC DIII Invitational.
Meet Highlights
- Graduate student Annie Gutierrez broke a school record…Stop me if you've heard that one before! Gutierrez improved upon her program best 60m hurdle time of 8.88, running a time of 8.82 in the preliminaries. Gutierrez went on to win the event, running a time of 8.92 in the final, breaking the event record to go along with her school record.
- The Coral Gables product was not finished. Gutierrez finished second in the 200, posting a time of 26.17, good for fourth in program history. Gutierrez's time is good for 22nd nationally at the DIII level. She also tied for the top mark in the high jump at 1.55m.
- Victoria Kadiri won the 60m dash, posting a time of "". Kadiri qualified with a time of 7.92. She holds the school record in the event at 7.81, set earlier this year. Abigail Gerdes finished just behind her, running her best 60m time of the season thus far at 8.00.
- Kadiri finished third in the 200, finishing with a time of 26.49 behind Gutierrez. Kaitlin Bonney took the fourth spot, finishing in 26.71.
- Blue Jay freshman Annie Huang won the 800m run for the Jays, posting a PR time of 2:20.51. Huang's time is good enough for 25th nationally.
- The Jays put four of the top seven in the 400 with freshman Lauren Phillips posting a time of 59.94 to finish third. Ashley Tyburski (1:00.42), Anna Zaeske (1:01.01) and Bonney (1:01.68) finished five through seven.
- The Jays 4x400 relay team took home the win, finishing with a season-best time of 4:00.03. Phillips, Huang, Zaeske and Tyburski combined for the time with Tyburski running an anchor leg time of 58.57.
- Junior Marissa Hsu took home the win in the long jump with a 5.27m leap. Taryn Silvernale grabbed second place at 5.23m.
