The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's swim team broke two school records and sits in third place after day two of the 2022 NCAA Championships. The Blue Jays (170 points) are just one point back of the second-place Denison Big Red.

200 Free Relay
Hopkins kicked off day two of the championships with a school record and a fifth-place finish in the 200 Free Relay for seniors

Nat Davenport. Davenport swam the second-fastest anchor leg (19.40) to nearly bring the Blue Jays from sixth to fourth place. Hopkins' time of 1:19.71 was just one-hundredth of a second behind fourth-place Denison. The Blue Jays broke the school record by more than half a second. Chen's lead-off leg of 20.18 is the third fastest in the 50 Free in school history.

400 IM
Three Blue Jays earned a spot in the consolation finals of the 400 IM and would add 11 points to the team total. Freshman
Eric Ji led the trio with a third-place finish as he turned in a 3:57.17. Graduate student
CJ Arena finished in sixth place with a time of 3:58.66. Freshman
Joe Castagno followed in 15
th with a time of 3:59.52.
Arena earns his third All-America honor in the 400 IM.

100 Fly
Vitek turned in an impressive swim in the championship final of the 100 Fly. He dropped 0.27 seconds off his prelim time to finish in fourth place. His finals time of 47.18 is the second fastest in program history and just five-hundredths of a second behind his own school record (47.13). Vitek's fourth-place finish in the best by a Blue Jay in the 100 Fly since Dave Lofthus placed fourth at the 2003 championships. This is his third All-America honor in the 100 Fly.

Davenport finished in fifth place in the consolation final with a time of 48.34. His prelim time of 48.13 is the seventh fastest in program history.

200 Free
Senior
Noah Corbitt won the consolation final as he touched the wall in 1:37.98. He beat Kenyon's Yurii Kosian by more than half a second. He earns All-America honors in the 200 Free for the third time in his career.

400 Medley Relay
The Blue Jays took down another school record and earned a medal finish in the 400 Medley Relay to close out the second day of the championships. Junior
Steven Rua, Chen, Vitek and Davenport clocked in at 3:12.45. As he had done in the 200 Free Relay, Davenport turned in the second fastest anchor leg (43.22) to secure the third-place finish for the Blue Jays. JHU's time broke the school record by more than 1.6 seconds. It is the 18
th time that the Blue Jays have placed in the top three at the NCAA Championships in the 400 Medley Relay.
