Su Earns Gold, Jays Move Into Second After Day Two

The Johns Hopkins men moved up two spots in second place after day two of the Centennial Championships at Ursinus College. Hopkins has 75 points through two days, trailing the Bears by 21 points. Matthew Su earned gold for Hopkins in the long jump.

Meet Highlights
 
  • Su earned the lone gold of the day for the Hopkins men, taking the long jump title with a 7.08m leap. Su is the program record holder in the event and takes home gold in his first Centennial Championship since 2020 indoors. Su's mark is tied for the eighth-best mark in program history.
  • Blue Jay senior Justin Canedy earned a silver medal and eight points in the men's high jump, converting a 1.91m leap.
  • Charlie Teeter took home silver in the Steeplechase, finishing the race in 9:43.32 to earn eight points.
  • Sophomore James Reilly also earned a silver medal on Saturday, completing the final five decathlon events to place second and pick up eight more points for the Jays. Reilly totaled 5,197 points. Reilly started off his day with a win in 100-meter hurdles, winning the event by just under three seconds at 16.95, earning 629 points. Reilly took second in the pole vault, finishing behind his teammate Timothy Carlson with a 3.75m vault. Reilly added a key 435 points with a win in the javelin, throwing it 39.52m.
Other Top Performances
  • Mitchell Porter grabbed six points and a bronze medal in the long jump, converting a 6.59m jump on his second attempt.
  • Teammates Elias Boussouf and Kevin Sommer qualified for the 110 Hurdles, finishing with time of 15.85 and 16.30 respectively. The pair is also moving onto the finals in the 400 Hurdles, finishing first and third with times of 55.67 and 58.28.
  • Conrad Say and Su both qualified for the finals in the 100, running the prelims in 11.40 and 11.54 respectively.
  • Arthur Beyer will compete for the 800 crown tomorrow after qualifying second with a 1:55.64 run.
  • Ahmed Elmogi will try to earn another Centennial medal after qualifying with a 22.85 second 200m run.
