BALTIMORE, MD – Maurice Lyles has been named Johns Hopkins University's first "Future Leader" through the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) it was announced today. He begins his duties as Coordinator of Business Development on August 1.
 
The McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative is a coach-driven initiative that provides diverse college graduates a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences and opportunities to build their network while instilling in them the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership and Mentorship. Participants in the initiative are known as MLI Future Leaders.
 
Lyles will manage all revenue gathering initiatives related to event rentals, camps and clinics. He will also serve as the primary contact and handle all logistics for rental events. Lyles will be tasked with creating, marketing and implementing a Hopkins Athletics and Recreation Youth Summer Camp. In addition, he will provide varsity game management for select fall, winter and spring sports.
 
Lyles comes to Hopkins from Different Vibes Apparel, where he has served as the Business Manager since April 2020. He also works as a New Business Consultant for The Aspire Group, Inc. In the Spring of 2021, Lyles was an Events and Facilities Intern at UMBC. While with the Retrievers, he assisted the Event Manager with planning and coordinating logistics of UMBC men's and women's basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball and track & field events. He also served as a liaison for visiting teams, officials and game day personnel.
 
Lyles graduated from Bowie State in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management and Business Management. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
