BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins University Director of Athletics and Recreation
Jennifer S. Baker announced the promotion of
Jon Kindred and
Brandon Holley to Associate Directors of Athletics today. Kindred and Holley, who both arrived at Johns Hopkins in 2016, previously held Assistant Director of Athletics titles and have served as members of Baker's senior staff throughout her three-year tenure as Director of Athletics.
Â
Kindred assumes the title of Associate Director of Athletics/Compliance & Operations, while Holley is now the Associate Director of Athletics/Facilities & Events. In their new roles, both retain a majority of their previous responsibilities while adding additional administrative oversight.
Â
An assistant director of athletics since 2018, Kindred has served as the sport administrator for Johns Hopkins' highly-successful baseball, men's and women's swimming and women's tennis teams. He supervises three full-time head coaches with additional oversight of seven assistant coaches and programs with nearly 100 student-athletes. He plays an active role with each team in budget development, fundraising, competition scheduling and rules education.
Â
Kindred will continue to manage all NCAA compliance operations for Johns Hopkins' multi-divisional athletic program that includes 24 varsity programs and more than 600 student-athletes. In this role, he monitors, provides oversight and directs education on NCAA compliance to all internal and external constituents and prepares all NCAA-mandated reports. He also serves as the department's liaison with a number of on-campus partners, including the Office of Institutional Equity, the University Registrar, Student Financial Services and the Office of Student Conduct.
Â
In addition, Kindred has been a key member of the Student-Athlete Development Team, which has provided programming and educational opportunities with a focus on career development. He also serves as the primary game operations manager for home athletic events with tournament director responsibilities for the many conference and NCAA Tournament championships hosted by Johns Hopkins.
Â
Kindred arrived at Johns Hopkins in September 2016 as the Assistant Director, Student-Athlete Success. In that position, he led the implementation of an academic support program that assisted first-generation, limited income and underrepresented student-athletes during their initial enrollment and throughout their time as an undergraduate. He also worked closely with the university's alumni and development office to create an alumni mentoring program for Johns Hopkins' Division I student-athletes.
Â
In his new role, Holley will continue as the sport administrator for Johns Hopkins' men's soccer, wrestling and men's and women's fencing programs, all of which have competed in NCAA Championship competition since his arrival. He supervises three head coaches and assists in the supervision of all assistant coaches within those four programs, which count more than 90 student-athletes among them. He also plays an active role with each team in budget development, fundraising, competition scheduling and rules education.
Â
Holley will now assume a much larger role in capital facilities projects in the Department of Athletics and Recreation and will serve as the department liaison with campus partners as well as internal and external contractors throughout the planning, design and implementation of all major facilities initiatives. Currently, he is managing the installation of a new videoboard at Homewood Field, which is due to be completed this summer, while also planning for the installation of a new playing surface at Homewood during the summer of 2023.
Â
He will continue to coordinate all varsity athletic scheduling for Johns Hopkins' 24-sport program, oversee the extensive facility rental plans for Homewood Field, Babb Field at Stromberg Stadium and the Newton White Athletic Center and additional indoor and outdoor spaces.
Â
Holley will also now play a key role in the signature annual event at Homewood Field, the university-wide commencement in late May, while also continuing to manage operation of large, high-profile events such as the Premier Lacrosse League and the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game which routinely take place at Homewood.
Â
Holley will also maintain his role as the department's liaison with the university facility operations team and campus security while working closely with numerous other campus partners on collaborative events that include an athletics and/or recreation presence.  In addition, he will continue to manage game operations for select home Johns Hopkins athletic events, including all men's lacrosse games.
