BALTIMORE, MD – Senior
Siena Urbanski scored a career-best four goals to lead the sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins field hockey team to a 5-0 win at Dickinson Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in Centennial Conference play.
Urbanski gave the Blue Jays the early lead when she scored on a penalty stroke just 6:34 into the game. Hopkins doubled its lead midway through the second quarter, capitalizing off a turnover. Sophomore
Ava Balacek intercepted a Dickinson pass and then dribbled down the right sideline before finding senior
Sadie Abboud at the top of the circle. She redirected the ball to freshman
Grace Waldeck in the circle, who took one touch and then fired a low shot inside the left post.
Urbanski picked up her second of the afternoon with just 1:53 to play in the half. Senior
Anna Scott took a hard shot off a Blue Jay corner that was saved by Saige Stevens. The ball rebounded to Urbanski on the left post and she slipped it past Stevens to stake the Blue Jays to a 3-0 lead.
The Blue Jays' lead grew to four at the 47:52-mark when she tipped a ball sophomore
Sophie Gomez up and over Stevens for her third of the game. Just two minutes and 12 seconds later, she scored in traffic off a pass from graduate student
Abby Birk to give Hopkins a 5-0 lead.
Senior
Morgan Seward, junior
Alexis Loder and freshman
Phoebe Williams shared time in the cage with Williams making one save. Stevens finished with 13 saves in the loss for the Red Devils. Hopkins had the advantage in shots (34-1) and corners (22-0).
Notes: Urbanski's four goals are tied for second most in school history • It is the most goals by a Blue Jay since Emily Miller scored four on October 1, 2008 • Hopkins improves to 25-19-2 all-time against Dickinson and has won six straight over the Red Devils.
