LANCASTER, PA - The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays have swept the Centennial Conference Women's Track & Field awards, it was announced earlier today. Both
Lauren Phillips and
Victoria Kadiri earned Centennial Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for their respective performances at the TCNJ Lion Invitational this past weekend. Kadiri earned her second Athlete of the Week award of the season, while Phillips picked up her first.
Lauren Phillips had a record setting weekend that helped her earn the award. Her 7.68 60-meter dash time earned her third place in the event and set a new Centennial Conference record, which was held for 19 years by Haverford's Chinoma Nwaneshiudu. In addition, Phillips placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.54, which was .03 short of breaking another conference record. Both of her times in those events currently rank in the top 10 nationally, with her 60-meter time being second. To wrap up her impressive weekend, Phillips anchored JHU's 4x400-relay team, which finished first place with a time of 3:58.14.
After breaking conference records in the Blue Jays first meet of the season,
Victoria Kadiri returned with another stellar weekend. She placed third in the triple jump with 12.11 meters and fourth in the long jump with 5.75 meters. Kadiri holds the top mark for both events in the country. In fact, both of her marks in those events this season top everyone in the country.
