LEWISBURG, PA – Sophomore
Matthew Hartshorn broke the school record in the 400 IM and the Johns Hopkins men's swim team jumped up into second place on day two of the Bucknell Invitational. The Blue Jays posted nine career-best swims on top of eight NCAA B cuts.
The Blue Jays opened the day with a third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of sophomore

Christian Mayr combined for an NCAA B cut of 1:29.28.
Hartshorn then cruised to the win and school record in the 400 IM. He beat the field with a time of 3:53.37, shaving nearly eight-tenths of a second off the record. Graduate student
Ike Shirakata followed in second place with a career-best swim of 3:56.80. Junior
Joe Castagno took fourth place with a time of 3:58.63 and classmate
Eric Ji placed fifth in 4:01.00. Hartshorn, Shirakata and Castagno all turned in NCAA B cuts. Freshman
Will Dunlap took second place in the B Final with a time of 4:01.97.
Clapp then swam to a second-place finish in the 100 Fly as he clocked in at 47.64. His time is not only an NCAA B cut, but is the sixth fastest time in program history. Freshman
Rad Couture placed second in the B Final with a career-best time of 49.94. Senior
Reef Ide finished in eighth place in 50.72. And in the C Final, sophomore
Andrew Huang took second with a time of 50.65.

Kellen Roddy finished in fifth place in the 200 Free with a time of 1:40.06. Junior
Daniel Byrnes followed in third place with a swim of 1:40.22. Freshman
Adam Sandid turned in a career-best time of 1:41.98 to place second in the B Final. Junior
Jonik Surprenant finished in second place in the C Final with a career-best time of 1:42.67.
Limberg then took second place in the 100 Breast as he turned in an NCAA B cut of 55.06. Graduate student
Brandon Stride finished in eighth place in 57.07. Junior
Nathan Jin placed seventh in the B Final with a time of 57.01. Lloyd followed with a third-place finish in the 100 Back as he touched in 49.68. Ide finished in second place in the B Final with a career-best time of 50.92.
The Blue Jays wrapped up the night with a fourth-place finish in the 800 Free Relay. The team of Lloyd, Byrnes, Sandid and Roddy turned in an NCAA B time of 6:42.29. In addition, Lloyd posted a career-best time of 1:40.66 in his lead-off leg.
The Bucknell Invitational concludes on Sunday, December 3. The day begins with the prelims of the 200 Back at 10:00 am.
