Sachin Mehta earned his 200
th career win in the Sabre.
Hopkins opened the day with a 22-5 win over Lafayette. Sophomore
Alan Zheng and freshman
Spencer Grossman Smisek each won two bouts to lead the Foil squad to a 6-3 win. Senior
Danny Comer and freshman
Jorge Gana did the same in a 7-2 win by the Epee squad. Senior
David DeScherer and freshman
Alex Jeffords won three bouts each as the Sabre squad went 9-0.
The Blue Jays then beat the Drew Rangers, 21-6. Grossman Smisek earned two wins in a tough 5-4 loss for the Foil squad. Gana, freshman
Matthew Dao and sophomore
Ethan Kim combined for six wins to lead the Epee squad to an 8-1 win. The Sabre squad once again went 9-0, led by a combined six wins from DeScherer and junior
Qilin Tong.
JHU followed that with a 21-6 win over Rutgers. Zheng and Grossman Smisek again won two bouts each and the Foil squad won 6-3. Gana won all three of his bouts and the Epee squad won 8-1. Jeffords won all three of his bouts to lead the Sabre squad to a 7-2 win.
Hopkins then defeated Cornell, 25-2. Zheng, Grossman Smisek and junior
Anthony Bae combined to lead the Foil squad to a 9-0 win. Gana went 3-0 and the Epee squad picked up a 7-2 win. Mehta, junior
William Hu and freshman
Larry Cai combined to lead the Sabre squad to a 9-0 win.
The Blue Jays wrapped up the day with a 26-1 win over the Rowan Profs. Bae and Grossman Smisek won three bouts each and the Foil squad won 8-1. In the Epee, Comer and Zheng won three bouts each to lead their squad to a 9-0 victory. And in the Sabre, Cai won all three of his bouts as the squad won 9-0.
Hopkins returns to action on Sunday, February 19 with the MACFA B vs C round robin at Goldfarb Gym.
