A DOZEN! The Blue Jays Claim Their 12th Consecutive Centennial Championship

LANCASTER, PA- The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team clinched their 12th consecutive Centennial Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon in Lancaster. The Blue Jays tallied 291 points as a team, which was the second highest points tally in championship history, only behind JHU's 343 points last season.

The Golden Girls

  • The Blue Jays team earned gold medals in six different events on Sunday to run away with the championship.
  • Victoria Kadiri added three more gold medals to her tally with the Jays on Sunday. Kadiri set a new Centennial Conference Championship record in the 60-meter dash, running a 7.80 to earn gold. Her performance was also top three in school history. She took first place in the 60-meter hurdles, tying her PR with a time of 9.16. She also earned gold in the long jump, reaching a mark of 5.54m. Kadiri in total has now earned 12 Centennial gold medals.
  • The Blue Jays 4x400 relay team of Lauren Phillips, Monal Daterao, Kathleen Saussy and Anna Zaeske set a new Centennial Championship record with a time of 3:57.90, which is the first time a team ever ran below the four-minute mark in conference championship history, to earn the gold medal. This was the fourth-fastest time in school history.
  • Taryn Silvernale earned a gold medal in the high jump with a mark of 1.59m. It was the sixth medal Silvernale has ever earned and her second gold medal.
  • Sara Stephenson was impressive in the 3000 and picked up her first gold medal in the Centennial Conference with a time of 10:00.95.

Other Notable Performances

  • Lauren Phillips added a silver medal to her tally in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.86, which is a top 10 performance in program history.
  • Kathleen Saussy also picked up a silver medal with her 59.50 time in the 400 to collect her first two medals in her career.
  •   Mackenzie Setton and Isis Diaz both earned the first medals in their careers as they received a silver and bronze medal respectively in the mile run. Setton ran a 5:03.17 and Diaz came in with a 5:11.24.
  • Stephanie Brown earned the silver medal in the 3000 with a time of 10:21.54 with Triya Roy coming in behind her with a 10:28.41 to earn bronze.
  • Kelsey Neff picked up her third career bronze medal with her 11.82m mark in the shot put.
  • Harrinee Senthilkumar added to her gold medal from yesterday with a bronze in the 800, running a 2:18.84.

Up Next

  • The Blue Jays will compete in the Tufts Final Qualifier next weekend in Medford, MA in the final meet before the NCAA Championships.
