GETTYSBURG, PA – The 15
th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team beat host Gettysburg, 8-1, in Centennial Conference action Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Jays are now 15-3 overall and 8-0 in the CC while the Bullets fall to 7-5 on the season and 4-4 in the conference.
Hopkins swept doubles to take an early 3-0 lead in the match and then won the first five singles points to secure the win.
Zoe Hsieh and
Bea Manjon blanked Ellie. Brignati and Kate Alianiello at third doubles.
Kamila Wong and
Jay Xiao then defeated Andrea Brazyte and Avery Palandjian, 8-3, at first.
Celina Liu and
Catharina Ausfahl closed out doubles with an 8-5 win over Sarah Guistwite and Gillian Rozenfeld.
Ausfahl won the first singles point when she beat Alex Rieg without losing a game at fifth. Wong then clinched the win for the Blue Jays with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Guistwite at second. Hsieh followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth over Rozenfeld. Xiao pushed Hopkins' lead to 7-0 when she defeated Brazyte 6-1, 6-2 at first. Manjon followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Brignati at sixth. Palandjian grabbed a point for Gettysburg when she beat
Niamh Harding 6-1, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (6) at third.
Hopkins wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 22. JHU will host 22
nd-ranked Washington & Lee at 10:00 am and will also visit Ursinus at 2:00 pm.
