BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins field hockey graduate student
Abby Birk and senior
Anna Scott have been named to the 2022-23 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-America At-Large Team. Birk was named to the first team, while Scott was a second team selection.
Â
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or above and a starter or significant reserve. The Academic All-America Women's At-Large Team is comprised of student-athletes who compete in sports other than basketball, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, cross country/track & field and volleyball.
Â
The selection of Birk and Scott gives the Johns Hopkins field hockey program five all-time Academic All-Americans, four of which have come in the last two years. Birk becomes the first player in program history to earn first team honors and the first to twice earn Academic All-America honors, while Scott is the first second team selection in program history. Johns Hopkins was one of just three field hockey programs to have two players named to the team.
Â
Birk and Scott led Johns Hopkins to a 19-4 record and the program's fourth straight Centennial Conference Championship in 2022. The Blue Jays made their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Final Four and second straight trip to the national title game.
