LANDOVER, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team traveled in-state to compete at the Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic Saturday afternoon, taking home three individual titles in the 60-meter sprint, pole vault and triple jump.
While Saturday's festivities were comprised of mainly field events, it was
Chloe Zhang claiming the first individual title for the Blue Jays in the 60-meter sprint, crossing the line with a time of 7.86. Elsewhere in the 800,
Abigail Lovelace grabbed a top-15 finish with her time of 2:35.55 to conclude the day's track events.
Hopkins took over in the field events, starting with a share of third place in the high jump by Lovelace and
Jaclyn Donoho, who both cleared 1.47 meters to share the bronze. The Jays secured their second first-place finish shortly thereafter in the pole vault, with the trio of
Bianca Skelton,
Cassidy Brown and Sarah-Caulley Soto sharing the top spot with a height of 3.20 meters.
Zhang carried her success from the 60 into the long jump, grabbing a top-8 finish by clearing 5.08 meters, followed closely behind by
Sara Bartlett (11
th – 4.80) and Donoho (14
th – 4.59) who also claimed top 15 finishes. The third and final individual title went to
Victoria Kadiri in the triple jump, who cleared 12.86 meters, which ranks third in program history and is currently the No. 1 jump in all of Division III.
Concluding the day's events was the shot put, in which
Hilary Gallito grabbed the final top 10 finish with a throw of 10.22 meters, with sophomore Pheobe Williams narrowly missing out on the top 10, clearing 10.17 meters to take home 11
th.
Next up for the Blue Jays is the Patriot Games set to take place Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27.
