PHILADLPHIA, PA – The Johns Hopkins women's swim team opened the season at La Salle, dropping a close 153.5-136.5 decision. The Blue Jays won the swimming portion, but the host Explorers picked up 29 points in diving to grab the win. Hopkins won six events, including three Blue Jays who earned their first career wins at JHU.
Hopkins kicked things off with a second and third-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. Freshman

Meg Susil then took third place in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:06.86. Er followed with her first career win as she beat the field with a swim of 1:55.62 in the 200 Free. Junior
Alex Watson took third place in 1:58.97. Veerapaneni made it two straight wins for the Jays as she took the 100 Back in 58.04. Lee followed in second place with a time of 58.99.
Liu placed second in the 100 Breast as she finished in 1:08.82 and junior
Katherine Chelus placed third in 1:09.78. Petitt then took third place in the 200 Fly as she touched in 2:13.74, while junior
Rachel Davis placed fourth (2:14.21). Cohen grabbed a win in the 50 Free with a swim of 24.43, followed by Miler in second (24.81). Miler then placed second in the 100 Free as she finished in 54.82, just beating Watson by 0.14 seconds.
Graduate student
Nyah Stahl earned her first win for the Blue Jays as she clocked in at 2:07.92 in the 200 Back. Veerapaneni followed in second place with a time of 2:09.79. Rohovit finished in third place in the 200 Breast in 2:28.94, just beating Liu to the wall by 0.19 seconds. Er picked up her second win of the day as she turned in a swim of 5:13.98 to win the 500 Free by nearly five and a half seconds. Sophomore
Ayden Min took second place in 5:19.56.
Cohen placed third in the 100 Fly as she clocked in a 58.68 while Lee took fourth in 59.25. Davis followed with a second-place finish in the 200 IM in 2:13.47. Stahl finished in fourth place in 2:15.19. The Blue Jays wrapped up the day on a winning note in the 200 Free Relay. Cohen, Miler, sophomore

Julia Tuinman took third place in 1:39.71.
Hopkins is bac in the pool on Saturday, October 26 as the Blue Jays visit the William & Mary Tribe.
