Isphording Named Centennial Defensive Player of the Week

Junior Anchored Defense That Posted Two Shutouts Last Week

LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins junior Annie Isphording has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week it was announced today.  Isphording helped the Blue Jays to a pair of shutout victories last week.

With Isphording leading the way, Johns Hopkins knocked off Washington College (3-0) and Gettysburg (2-0) in its two outings last week.  The Blue Jay defense allowed a total of just five shots – only one of which was on goal – in the two wins, which extended Hopkins' unbeaten streak to 11 (8-0-3).

The two shutouts last week push Hopkins' streak of consecutive shutouts to four and extended the Blue Jays' run of holding the opposition scoreless to 385:03 dating back to a second-half goal by Dickinson on September 25.

A two-time All-American, Isphording has started all 12 games this season and has logged a team-high 970 minutes through 12 games.  After allowing a total of six goals in the first two games of the season, the Blue Jay defense has allowed a total of just three goals in the last 10 games with seven shutouts during that time.  In six Centennial Conference games, Johns Hopkins has allowed a total of just one goal and 14 shots.

The Blue Jays (8-1-3, 6-0 Centennial Conference) return to action on Wednesday, October 16 when they welcome Swarthmore (7-1-4, 4-0-1) to Homewood Field (7 pm).
