CARLISLE, PA – Fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins scored in each quarter en route to a 6-0 win at Dickinson Wednesday afternoon in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improved to 14-3 overall and 8-1 in the conference while the Red Devils fall to 5-11 and 2-7 in the CC. JHU clinched a top two seed and a first-round bye in the Centennial Conference Tournament.
Hopkins wasted little time getting on the board as graduate student
Lila Slattery scored the first of her two goals just seven minutes into the game. Late in the second quarter, the Blue Jays quickly turned their one-goal lead into a three-goal lead. Senior
Jenna Halpin collected a corner insert from classmate
Emily Amsden and drew the defense to her right. She then passed back to Slattery, who banged rifled a shot inside the left post at 24:21. Just 49 seconds later, sophomore
Caeli Robinson scored on a give-and-go with Halpin off another corner.
Junior
Grace Waldeck scored an unassisted tally with 2:25 to play in the third to extend the Blue Jays' lead to four. Less than four minutes into the fourth, the lead was five. Senior
Ava Balacek intercepted a pass deep in the Dickinson end, dribbled towards the circle and then centered the ball to freshman
Zoya Iyer, who scored on a one-timer in front. Amsden capped the scoring with 2:45 to play with a penalty stroke goal, her third of the season.
Sophomore
Aubrey Kilgore played two quarters and made one save to earn the win. Freshman
Jessica Lapidus also played two quarters and notched one save. Taylor Morrow finished with 11 saves in the loss for the Red Devils, while Maggie Carson added a defensive save.
Hopkins finished with a 25-2 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corners. The six goals are the most by the Blue Jays against the Red Devils since 2008.
Hopkins wraps up the regular season on Saturday, November 2 at Franklin & Marshall. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 12:00 pm start at Tylus Field.
