Johns Hopkins Tops F&M, 1-0, To Secure Centennial Top Seed

LANCASTER, PA – Fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins rode a third-quarter goal to a 1-0 win at Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon in both teams' regular season finale. The Blue Jays secure the top seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament with the win as they improve to 15-3 overall and 9-1 in the conference. The Diplomats fall to 9-8 overall and 6-4 in the Centennial.

The Diplomats got five saves from goalie Meghan Dole and a defensive save from Kat Thistlewait in the game's first 37 minutes to keep the Blue Jays off the board. But at 37:10 Hopkins earned a penalty stroke and graduate student Lila Slattery beat Dole inside the right post to put JHU up 1-0.

The Blue Jays continued to pepper the Diplomat goal over the final 23 minutes but could not get the insurance goal. On the other end of the field, three of sophomore Aubrey Kilgore's saves came in those final 23 minutes as she made the one goal stand up.

Hopkins finished with a 22-6 advantage in shots and 10-5 advantage in corners. Kilgore made four saves to earn the shutout while Dole finished with 11 for the Diplomats.

Hopkins earns the top seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament for the sixth time in seven seasons under head coach Jane Wells. Saturday's game was also the Blue Jays' 300th Centennial Conference game as they are now 217-81-2 in CC regular season games.

Hopkins will return to action on Thursday, November 5 in the Centennial Conference Semifinals. The time of the game will be announced on Monday.

Notes: Slattery is now tied for ninth in Johns Hopkins' single-season history with 35 points and 14 goals • Kilgore's 15 wins this season rank fifth in program history.
