BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins swim team accumulated 691 points to sit in second place after day one of the Loyola H20unds Invitational. The Blue Jays turned in two three-finishes and had a pair of NCAA B qualifying times.
Hopkins opened the day with a fifth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.

Jonathan Wang,
Avery Clapp and
Christian Mayr swam a 1:29.87 to take fifth. The quartet missed fourth place by just 0.22 seconds.
Josiah March then placed third in the A final of the 500 Free. His finals time of 4:30.71 is an NCAA B time and his fastest of the season.
Jonik Surprenant finished in ninth place with a swim of 4:40.04. In the B Final,
Jack Cornish won the heat with a season-best swim of 4:37.45.
Larkin Helman led the Blue Jays in the 200 IM with a fifth-place finish in the A Final.
Matthew Hartshorn finished in sixth (1:51.33) and
Eric Ji took seventh (1:51.42).
Bryce Lloyd rounded out the heat with a ninth-place finish in 1:51.65. Ji's prelim swim of 1:49.94 is an NCAA B time and a career best.
Christian Mayr placed second in the B Final of the 50 Free as he clocked in at 21.09 to beat
Rad Couture by four-hundredths of a second.
The Blue Jays wrapped up day one with a third-place finish in the 800 Free Relay. Helman led off the relay with a season-best swim of 1:41.86. Heymann, Byrnes and March completed the relay as the Blue Jays clocked in at 6:44.97, just seven-hundredths of a second out of second.
The H20unds Invitational continues Saturday, November 23 at 10:00 am. The prelim of the 100 Fly is the first event of the day.
