CLAREMONT, CA – Fourth-ranked Tufts beat Johns Hopkins, 7-2, in non-conference tennis action Thursday at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Blue Jays slip to 4-2 on the season while the Jumbos improve to 4-4.
Tufts grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles before winning five of six singles' matches to take the win. Derin Acaroglu and Lachie Macintosh beat
Pranava Gadiraju and
Hanyu Liu, 8-4, at number two doubles. Sacha Maes and Corey Marley beat
Joshua Kim and
Allen Gong 8-4 at number three.
Daniel Ardila and
Marco Azar grabbed a point for the Blue Jays with an 8-4 win over Vuk Vuksanovic and Alex Ganchev at number one.
Liu earned the lone singles' win for Hopkins as he beat Acaroglu 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 at number four. Vukasnovic won 6-3, 6-1 at one over Gong while Javier Gonzalez prevailed in three sets versus Ardila at two.
Chakor Rajendra lost 6-4, 6-3 at number three to Macintosh. Garv Bahl beat Kim 7-6 (2), 6-2 at number five. And at six, Andrej Djokic beat Azar 7-5, 6-2.
Hopkins returns to action on Friday at 25
th-ranked Caltech. The match is slated for a 2:00 pm start in Pasadena, CA.
