Alan Zheng and sophomore
Jorge Gana combined for 16 points to lead the Johns Hopkins men's fencing team to a 24
th place finish at the NCAA Championships. The 16 points are the most by the Blue Jays since 2002.
Zheng went 10-13 in the Foil to finish in 14
th place and earn 10 points for the Blue Jays. His 14
th place finish in the highest by a Blue Jay Foilist since 2007. In fact, he is just the fifth Blue Jay Foilist to place in the top-15 at the NCAA Championships. Zheng finishes the season with a 90-48 record, tied for the eighth most wins in the Foil in program history. For his career, he now ranks sixth with 261 career wins.
Gana finished the championships with a 6-17 record in the Epee. He placed 23
rd and picked up six points for the Blue Jays. Gana went 85-43 on the season, with his 85 wins tied for 15
th most in school history. He now boasts a 180-91 record in his two seasons and is tied for 11
th in JHU history in career Epee wins.
