GETTYSBURG, PA – Twenty-third ranked Johns Hopkins did not drop a set as the Blue Jays beat the host Gettysburg Bullets Sunday in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays post their second straight shutout as they improve to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Bullets fall to 7-5 and 2-2 in the conference.
The Blue Jays swept doubles to open the match with a quick 3-0 lead.
Marco Azar and
Chakor Rajendra claimed the first point of the match with an 8-2 win over Teo Burgess and JP Damare at number three.
Daniel Ardila and
George Jiang then beat Tyler Blanz and Matt Porreca, 8-3, at two.
Allen Gong and
Pranava Gadiraju completed the doubles' sweep with an 8-4 win at one over Alex Kagan and Adam Contract.
Azar won the first singles' point and pushed Hopkins' lead to 4-0 when he beat Blanz 6-3, 6-2 at number four. Gong then secured the win as he dropped just one game in his victory three versus Kagan.
Hanyu Liu followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Contract at two and JHU led 6-0. Ardila defeated Mikey Fellman 6-3, 6-0 at one and
Arslan Orashev then won 6-2, 6-3 at six over Michael Zayneh. Gadiraju capped the win and the shutout when he beat Ben O'Connor-Skloot at five.
