BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's track & field team saw a pair of program records fall at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational Saturday afternoon, with
Lauren Phillips and
Erika Ezumba enjoying career days to etch their names in the record books.
Saturday's track events began with the 5000 in which
Katherine Forsberg and Bella Stenhouse set personal bests en route to top-10 finishes. Forsberg was the first to cross the line in fifth with a time of 18:09.83 before Stenhouse came in just behind, crossing the line in 18:27.96 to finish in eighth. The Blue Jays' 4x100 team then took third with a time of 47.98 before multiple Hopkins athletes PRd in the 1500.
Mackenzie Setton was the top-finishing Blue Jay in the event, crossing the line in 4:35.59 followed closely by
Annie Huang's fourth-place time of 4:37.02.
Isabelle Nobili was next to cross the line in sixth in 4:39.54 before
Adriana Catalano (ninth – 4:42.15) and
Emma Kothari (10
th – 4:44.24) rounded out the top 10. Joining Kothari with personal bests were
Eleni Alvarez,
Aisling Callahan, Sara Conant,
Lily Tremba,
Cameron Coletti and
Isabella Tasser in an overall impressive display from Hopkins.
In the 400 it was Phillips winning her first event of the day, crossing the line in 55.72 for a time that ranks fifth in Division III. Finishing behind the junior on the podium was Huang — the junior finished in third with a time of 57.51 — with
Anna Zaeske,
Lianne Saussy and Tremba also finishing in the top 10.
Lorna Arcese impressed in the 800 after finishing third with a time of 2:18.07 before Phillips broke the first program record of the day in the 200. The junior was blistering fast in her final individual event of the day, crossing the line in 24.37 to break her own record and give herself the second-fastest finish in Division III this season.
Hopkins' victories on the track concluded with the 3000-meter steeplechase in which
Cooper Brotherton took the top spot after crossing the line in 11:25.74 to set a season best.
The Blue Jays carried their success on the track into their field events, where Sara Caulley-Soto kicked off the pole vault with a season-best effort, clearing 3.40 meters to finish fifth. The sophomore's efforts were followed by impressive outings at the pit from Kadiri and Bartlett. The senior started things off in the long jump, clearing a season-best 5.95 meters to top the field and rank second in Division III before Bartlett took second in the triple jump with her season-best mark of 11.75 meters.
In the throwing events it was Ezumba starting things off with a first-place finish in the shot put with her throw of 13.07 meters.
Kelsey Neff came in just behind in third with her mark of 11.90 meters before
Phoebe Williams and
Carina Beritela set season and career-high throws after each clearing 10.90 meters.
Ezumba and Neff were the top Blue Jay finishers once again in the discus claiming fourth and sixth, with Williams and Beritela mirrored those results in the javelin throw before Ezumba made history in the hammer throw, clearing 42.70 meters to break the program record set in 2022 and take fifth.
Hopkins is back in action starting Thursday, April 25 to compete at the Penn Relays as well as the Kaiser Invitational.
