BALTIMORE, MD – Seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins trailed 4-3 and rallied to win the final two matches to top ninth-ranked Williams, 5-4, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday. The Blue Jays win their 11
th straight match as they improve to 19-4 on the season. The Ephs finish their season at 14-6.

Lia Melvin gave the Blue Jays an early 1-0 lead as the duo beat Ananya Aggarwal and Mia Thomann, 8-2, at number one doubles. Williams answered with wins at one and two to grab a 2-1 lead. Jane Ladaga and Annabelle Siegel won 8-4 over
Sydney Langer and
Kamila Wong to tie the match. Seventh-ranked Erica Ekstrand and Yuu Ishikawa then put the Ephs ahead with an 8-6 win over
Sophia Kima and
Jay Xiao at one.
Chang wasted little time in tying the match as she defeated 15
th-ranked Siegel 6-2, 6-1 at number three singles to tie the match at two. Aggarwal responded with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Langer at four to give Williams a 3-2 lead. The lead didn't last long however as Wong won 6-0, 6-4 over Thomann at five to knot the score at three.
Margaux grabbed the lead back for the Ephs with a three-set win over Melvin 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. But the Blue Jays weren't done. Kim prevailed in three sets, beating 24
th-ranked Ishikawa 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at two and the match was tied at four. Hurley then came from behind to beat Ekstrand, ranked 10
th in the nation. Ekstrand took the first set 6-3, but Hurley answered with a 6-1 win in the second. Ekstrand then led 5-4 in the third set, but Hurley rallied to tie the set at six and force a tiebreaker, which she won 7-1.
The win is the Blue Jays' first ever over the Ephs, having lost the previous seven meetings, including four in the NCAA Tournament.
Hopkins will take on the winner of 12
th-ranked Washington & Lee and UT-Dallas on Sunday, May 12 in the NCAA Sweet 16.
