HAVERFORD, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's cross country team traveled north to take part in the Haverford Main Line Invitational Friday afternoon, getting a pair of top 25 finishes from
Anirudh Krishnan and
Aiden Tomov en route to finishing fifth as a team.
Krishnan was the first to cross the line for the Blue Jays in the four-mile race, coming in 23
rd with a time of 20:54.6 in his first action of the season. The freshman was followed closely by Tomov who came in just behind in 24
th with a time of 20:57.5, using an impressive kick to climb seven spots in the final mile.
Next to finish was
Dane Spahr whose time of 21:21.7 earned the freshman 35
th, with
Joey Souverein narrowly missing out on a top 50 finish after crossing the line in 21:44.5 to take 51
st. Rounding out Hopkins' point scorers was
Aiden Deffner, who finished in 59
th with a time of 21:57.9, with
Peter Murray (22:01.3) and
Zachary Martin (22:02.3) coming in within five seconds of the sophomore to push him to the finish line.
Penn took first in the meet with 46 points, with La Salle (50) and host Haverford (53) completing the top three. Hopkins — which finished fifth — beat out the likes of Division I Temple and Division III Widener in the meet.
The Blue Jays are back in action Saturday, Sept. 21 to compete at the John McNichols Invitational. The men's race — which will take place on the same course as the NCAA Championship this season — is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
