BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins won 13 of 14 events and broke a pool record en route to a 202-57 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon.
Joe Castagno and
Josiah March won two individual events each in the Blue Jays' final dual meet of the season.
Hopkins started the day off with a bang, sweeping the top three spots in the 400 Medley Relay and breaking the pool record.
Bryce Lloyd,
Jonathan Wang,
Avery Clapp and
Jay Heymann grabbed the win with a time of 3:19.68. Their time broke the record by just eight-hundredths of a second.
Dylan Jewett,
Eric Ji,
Aden Li and
Christian Mayr finished in second (3:24.83) and
Daniel Byrnes,
Mitchell List,
Jonik Surprenant and
Larkin Helman placed third (3:29.03).
March picked up his first win of the afternoon as he clocked in at 9:41.83 to win the 1000 Free.
Jack Cornish finished in second place with a swim of 9:49.95.
Rad Couture led the Blue Jays in the 200 Free with a second-place finish in 1:46.11, while Jewett placed third in 1:47.80. Hopkins then turned in the first of back-to-back sweeps in the 100 Back. Wang touched the wall in 52.18 to earn the win, followed by Ji (53.23) and
Will Dunlap (54.71). Castagno grabbed the first of his two wins and led the field in the 100 Breast. He clocked in at 57.10, followed by Helman (57.88) in second and
Adam Sandid (58.97) in third.
Clapp earned a win and an NCAA B time with his swim of 1:49.63 in the 200 Fly.
Julian Maycock touched in 1:56.71 for second place. Mayr led the field in the 50 Free with his swim of 21.57, winning by nearly six-tenths of a second. Heymann then beat F&M's Sam Kamdin to the wall by just six-hundredths of a second to win the 100 Free (46.62). Mayr finished in third place with a time of 47.04.
The Blue Jays then posted three straight sweeps in the 200 Back, 200 Breast and 500 Free. Lloyd led the Jays in the 200 Back with an NCAA B time of 1:48.65. Helman (1:57.31) and Maycock (1:58.71) followed in second and third, respectively. In the 200 Breast, it was Ji earning the win as he clocked in at 2:05.55. List then took second (2:07.32) and
Matthew Hartshorn finished in third (2:11.73). March made it two individual wins as he swam a 4:37.35 to take first in the 500 Free. Li finished in 4:51.98 for second place, while Couture touched in 4:57.01 for third.
Jewett and Min went one-two in the 100 Fly, with Jewett touching first in 51.05 and Min following in 52.47. In the final individual event of the afternoon, Hopkins turned in another sweep. Castagno led the way, and picked up his second win, with a swim of 1:52.74 in the 200 IM. Hartshorn clocked in at 1:56.85 for second and Maycock followed in third in 1:58.32.
Hopkins closed out the win with first and second place finishes in the 400 Free Relay. Helman, Clapp, Sandid and Heymann earned the win in 3:02.88. Mayr,
Andrew Gilbert, Byrnes and Lloyd finished 3:08.94 for second.
