FAIRFAX, VA – Johns Hopkins had a strong start to the George Mason Patriot Games Friday night, with six top-10 finishers in the 5000m and three top-10 finishes in the pentathlon.
Triya Roy led five Blue Jays, all who turned in personal bests, to finish in the top-six in the 5000m. Roy crossed in second place with a time of 17:25.17, more than eight seconds under her previous best.
Jamie Stelnik crushed her personal best, shaving more than 30 seconds off, to finish in 17:30.47 for third place.
Carter Brotherton crossed in fourth place, finishing in a personal best 17:35.02.
Elena Blodnikar followed in fifth place with a time of 17:45.64 and
Aisling Callahan made it five straight Blue Jays to cross the line, finishing in a personal-best 17:46.58.
In the pentathlon,
Claudia Ouimet led the Blue Jays with a fifth-place finish and 2974 points. She broke her own freshman record with a time of 9.35 in the 60m hurdles to place sixth. In addition, she finished third in the shot put, eighth in the high jump, and 10
th in the long jump and 800m.
Jaclyn Donoho finished just three points shy of Ouimet to place sixth in the pentathlon with a personal-best 2971 points. She turned in a PR in the high jump (1.61m) and shot put (8.67m) to finish in third and seventh, respectively. She also placed seventh in the long jump and ninth in the 60m hurdles.
Abigail Lovelace totaled a personal-best 2871 points to finish in eighth place in the pentathlon. She posted PRs in shot put (9.86m) and 800m (2:35.22) to place fourth and sixth, respectively. In addition, she placed sixth in the high jump, 12
th in the long jump and 13
th in the 60m hurdles.
Hopkins is back in action at the Patriot Games on Saturday, February 1.
