Moore Named Centennial Special Teams Player of the Week

Sophomore Rang Up 296 All-Purpose Yards in 28-27 Win Against Carnegie Mellon

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins sophomore Josh Moore has been named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 28-27 come-from-behind win against Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.  This is the first time Moore has earned the honor in his career and he is the second Blue Jay this season to earn the award.

Moore had four kickoff returns for 150 yards, including a career-best 77-yard return in the third quarter, to help lead the Blue Jays to a win against the nationally-ranked Tartans.  His exploits on kickoff returns were part of an overall performance that saw him roll up 296 all-purpose yards as he added a career-high nine receptions for a personal-best 146 yards and one touchdown.  The 296 all-purpose yards rank as the ninth-best single-game total in school history and also rank 14th in the nation in Division III this season.

Though five games, Moore ranks second on the team in receiving with 20 receptions for 296 yards and three touchdowns and also has 14 kickoff returns for 433 yards (30.9/return).  His 433 kickoff return yards are already tied for the eighth-best single-season total in school history and he currently ranks eighth in the nation in kickoff return average; his 433 kickoff return yards rank sixth in the nation through games of October 11.  He also ranks 23rd in the nation in all-purposes yards per game (148.4).

Johns Hopkins (5-0, 2-0 Centennial) will return to action on Saturday, October 18 when the Blue Jays welcome Ursinus (4-1, 1-1 Centennial) to Homewood Field (1 pm).
