LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins senior
Annie Isphording has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Blue Jays to a pair of shutouts it was announced today. Isphording is the second consecutive Blue Jay to earn the award as classmate
Ella Macko was honored last week.
Â
Isphording anchored a Blue Jay defense that didn't allow a goal in victories against Mary Washington (2-0) and Bryn Mawr (5-0) last week. The Blue Jays held the Eagles to just five shots in the big non-conference victory, then held the Owls shotless to pick up the Centennial Conference victory. This marked the firstÂ
time JHU has held a team shotless since September 21, 2024, when the Blue Jays held Muhlenberg without a shot.
Â
Isphording has started all 12 games and has logged a team-high 977 minutes in helping the Blue Jays to an 8-3-1 record, including a 3-1 mark in Centennial Conference play. The Johns Hopkins defense has four consecutive shutouts to its credit and has allowed just eight goals in 12 games.
Â
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Wednesday, October 8 when the Blue Jays travel to Gettysburg (5-3-2, 2-1 CC) for a Centennial Conference matchup against the Bullets (6 pm).
