Five Blue Jays Earn All-Centennial Conference Honors

Four Earn First Team, Poulos Named to All-Sportsmanship Team

LANCASTER, PA – The Centennial Conference-champion Johns Hopkins women's soccer team placed five players on the 2025 All-Centennial Conference Team it was announced today.  Among the five were a program-record-tying four first team honorees.  This the eighth consecutive year that Johns Hopkins has placed at least five players on the All-Centennial Team and the four first team selections match the program record originally set in 1998 and matched in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2018 and this season.
 
In addition to Johns Hopkins' five All-Centennial honorees, senior Calista Poulos was also named to the league's All-Sportsmanship Team.
 
Grabbing a spot on the first team were a trio of seniors in defender Annie Isphording, midfielder Megha Salvi and forward Maria Romo-Nichols, along with sophomore midfielder Carolyn Johnson, while Senior Ella Macko (D) earned honorable mention status.
 
Isphording is making her third straight appearance on the All-Centennial First Team after also grabbing second team honors as a freshman in 2022.  She is the 10th player in program history to earn All-Centennial honors four times and the sixth to earn first team three times or more; she is just the second defender to earn first team honors three times.  This season, Isphording has started all 20 games and has logged a team-high 1,678 minutes while anchoring a Blue Jay defense that has 11 shutouts in 20 games; Johns Hopkins sports a 0.60 team goals against average.
 
Salvi lands a spot on the first team again and she and Macko become the 16th and 17th three-time All-Centennial selections in program history.  She has started all 20 games this season in the Blue Jay midfield and counts three goals and four assists for 10 points to her credit.  Her efforts this season bump her career totals to 15 goals and 21 assists for 51 points; she ranks seventh in school history with her 21 career assists.
 
Romo-Nichols is making her second appearance on the All-Centennial Team as she was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore.  She counts six goals and a team-high 10 assists for 22 points to her credit this season.  Her 10 assists are tied for the fourth-best single-season total in school history and she now has career totals of 21 goals and 26 assists for 68 points.  She ranks fourth in school history in career assists and tied for 16th in career points and is one of just five players in program history with 20 or more career goals and assists.  She was recently named the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP after scoring the game winning goal in the final minutes of a 2-1 win at top-seeded Swarthmore.
 
Johnson has started all 20 games this season and leads the team in goals (10) while her 22 points thus far are tied with Romo-Nichols for the team lead.  Among her 10 goals are three game-winners and twice she has scored the first goal of the game for the Blue Jays.  She becomes just the third Johns Hopkins sophomore to earn first team honors in the last 10 seasons and her efforts this season boost her two-year totals to 14 goals and seven assists for 35 points.
 
Macko earns her third straight All-Centennial selection to join Salvi as the 16th and 17th three-time honorees in program history.  She has played in and started 19 games this season and counts three goals and one assist for seven points to her credit.  A Second Team Academic All-American as a junior, Macko has now played in 82 games with 63 starts and counts four goals and three assists for 11 points to her credit.  She has helped fuel a Blue Jay defense that counts 11 shutouts and a 0.60 goals against average to its credit this season.
 
Poulos has been a vocal leader on the team as a senior despite missing the entire season with an injury.  A two-time Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll selection, she has played in 26 games in her career.
 
Johns Hopkins (15-4-1) won its 18th Centennial Conference title with the 2-1 win against Swarthmore on Sunday to earn the program's 23rd bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The Blue Jays will open play in the NCAAs on Saturday, November 15 when they take on St. John Fisher in the first round at Johns Hopkins' Homewood Field (5 pm).  Virginia Wesleyan will play Stevens in the other first round game at Homewood on Saturday with the two winners meeting on Sunday, November 16 in the second round (7 pm).
