BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's swimming team capped the three-day H2ounds Invitational at Loyola University Maryland with several strong individual and relay finishes on Sunday.
Highlights of the Blue Jay efforts on Sunday:
400 Medley Relay
The Blue Jay A team of
Jay Veerapaneni,
Renee Bak,
Kennedy Lee and
Alex Watson placed seventh with a time of 3:51.02.
1650 Free
Junior
Julia Tuinman turned in a strong performance in the 1650 free as she placed fourth overall with a time of 17:43.51. Classmate
Carly White also clocked in under 18 minutes as she touched in 17:59.71 to place 10
th.
200 Back
Lee provided the highlight on the third day of the meet for the Blue Jays as she placed first with a time of 2:00.01. Lee trailed Howard's
Chanice Posada by just under a second at 150 yards, but closed with a final 50 in 31.48 to overtake Posada and beat her by 0.33.
200 Breast
The Blue Jays did not have anyone qualify for the A final, but the Blue Jays got a first-place finish in the B final from senior
Rachel Davis (2:23.86), while freshman
Amy Hu added a third-place showing in the B final with a time of 2:26.13.
200 Fly
A pair of A finalists turned in fourth and seventh-place finishes for the Blue Jays. Freshman
Maddie Horner placed fourth as she touched home in 2:09.48, while junior
Kate Petitt added a seventh-place showing (2:10.87).
400 Medley Relay
Among 14 entries in the final event of the meet, the Blue Jays got a fifth-place finish from the A team of
Claire Han,
Kimberly Lan,
Elizabeth Cohen and Watson (3:29.91), while the team of
Melissa Er,
Angela Kim,
Anna Miler and Bak was just behind in sixth place (3:31.56).
Johns Hopkins will return to action on December 5-6 when the Blue Jays host the JHU Invitational at the Barbara and Jerry Procton Pool.
