HAVERFORD, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team wrapped up the pre-Thanksgiving portion of its 2025-26 schedule by winning three of four duals at Haverford on Sunday, November 23.  The 3-1 record on the day pushes the Blue Jays' record to 10-3 on the year.  Included on the day were wins against Hunter, Yeshiva and Army and a loss to NJIT.

The Blue Jays opened with a 19-8 loss to NJIT with the Highlands winning each of the three weapons.  In a tightly-contested matchup in the Foil, the Highlands grabbed a 5-4 win, while they also took a 6-3 decision in Sabre.  NJIT picked up a decisive 8-1 decision in Epee.  Spencer Grossman Smisek and Omar Reyes both picked up a pair of Foil victories for the Blue Jays, while Alex Pan scored two of Hopkins' three wins in the Sabre.

Johns Hopkins-27, Hunter-0
The Blue Jays bounced back with a shutout of Hunter, Johns Hopkins' first shutout of this season and first since the Jays blanked Yeshiva on February 16, 2025.  Five Blue Jays – Jamie Knox (Epee), Noah Zeng (Sabre), Pan (Sabre), Vir Gogoi (Foil) and Yi Peng Sha (Foil) – all went 3-0 to fuel the victory for Johns Hopkins.

The Epee team posted a clean sweep (9-0), while the Sabre and Foil teams both went 8-1 to fuel a decisive win in the Jays' third matchup of the day.  Head coach Austin Young again used a deep lineup with three Blue Jays – Alex Jeffords (Sabre), Grossman Smisek (Foil) and Leo He (Epee) – all finishing with three wins in the team victory.

Johns Hopkins-17, Army-10
Johns Hopkins closed the day with a 17-10 win against Army that was fueled by a decisive 8-1 win for the Epee team.  With the Blue Jays edging the Cadets, 5-4, in Foil and Army returning the favor with a 5-4 Sabre victory, the overall winner came down to Epee.  Senior Jorge Gana and junior Ethan Insler both swept a pair of bouts and Knox won 2-of-3 to help lock down the victory for the Blue Jays.
