BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team delivered a strong opening weekend at both the Navy Indoor Invitational and the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational on Saturday, combining for 24 top-10 finishes across 15 events and producing two school records courtesy of
Mirra Klimov and
Adriana Catalano.
Klimov turned in a standout performance in the 60m dash, clocking a personal-best 7.64, which ties the program record. In the 60m hurdles,
Claudia Ouimet placed seventh overall in 9.08, but it was her preliminary mark of 9.05 that stole the spotlight—both a personal best and the third-fastest time in school history.
In the 400m, senior
Lianne Saussy paced a trio of Blue Jays in the top 10, finishing fifth in 1:00.02. Sisters
Madison Moore (7th, 1:00.21) and
Gabrielle Moore (8th, 1:00.47) followed close behind to round out the group.
Lorna Arcese secured a fourth-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:19.24, while in the 1000m,
Sofia Fernandez ran a personal-best 2:59.84, the fourth-fastest mark in program history, to place third.
Lily Tremba added an eighth-place effort in 3:08.81.
The Blue Jays dominated the 3,000m, where
Storrie Kulynych-Irvin claimed the event title in a personal-best 10:05.89.
Evangeline Dunckley (3rd, 10:08.55) and
Ia Reistad (10th, 10:35.13) also finished among the top competitors.
In the mile,
Hanna Bruno (6th, 5:14.12) and
Kayla Ritzman (9th, 5:25.83) added two more top-10 performances, before the 4x400m relay team of
Gabrielle Moore, Saussy, Arcese and Bruno placed seventh in 3:59.41, the 10th-fastest relay time in school history.
Hopkins impressed in the field events as well. Ouimet continued her strong day with a personal-best 5.56m (18-3) in the long jump—the fifth-longest mark in program history—while
Chloe Zhang earned eighth with a 5.41m (17-9) leap. In the weight throw,
Erika Ezumba placed fifth with a 16.75m (54-11.5) effort, and
Phoebe Williams followed in seventh at 15.23m (49-11.75).
Ezumba also led a deep contingent in the shot put, placing fifth with a 12.05m (39-6.5) throw. Williams (7th, 11.61m / 38-1.25),
Kellen Ievers (8th, 11.04m / 36-2.75) and
Carina Beritela (10th, 10.03m / 32-11) secured four top-10 finishes in the event.
Clarissa Newman finished fourth in the pole vault with a 3.75m (12-3.5) clearance, and
Jaclyn Donoho added a ninth-place showing in the high jump at 1.50m (4-11).
At Boston University,
Adriana Catalano delivered one of the most notable performances of the weekend, running 16:34.90 in the 5,000m—a personal best, the fastest time in program history and the 22nd-fastest mark in NCAA Division III history. In the 3,000m,
Emma Kothari (9:55.77) and
Ani Wedemeyer (9:58.31) each recorded personal records.
Johns Hopkins returns to action Saturday, January 17, at the Cardinal Track and Field Classic hosted by Catholic University. Events at the Prince George's Sport & Learning Complex are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
