Johns Hopkins Cruises to 7-0 Win Over Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Johns Hopkins opened the spring season with an easy 7-0 win over host and 26th-ranked Mary Washington Wednesday night. The Blue Jays have now won five straight over the Eagles.
 
Hopkins picked up wins at number one and two doubles to take the doubles' point. Daniel Ardila and Dylan Blenkiron beat Trevor Rein and Jack Riordan, 6-2, at number one. Marco Azar and Brian Yi won by the same score over Evan Fisher and Brock Ladehoff at two. The Eagles prevented the sweep as Will Fromherz and Matt Scott won s tight 7-6 (9) match over Zahari Stoimenov and Chakor Rajendra at three.
 
The Blue Jays then swept the singles' matches to complete the win. Rajendra earned a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 win over Ladehoff at number one singles. Ardila bested Rein 7-6 (4), 6-3 at number two. Blenkiron rallied to defeat Fisher 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) at three. Jason Li was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Albert Bladimirskiy at number four and Stoimenov topped Ryan King 6-1, 7-6 (3) at five. Azar defeated Scott 6-1, 6-4 at number six.
 
Hopkins returns to the court on Friday, February 28 as the Blue Jays visit the Washington & Lee Generals. The match is scheduled for a 4:30 pm start.
 
Notes: Ardila is now tied for 16th in JHU history with 45 career singles wins Ardila also ranks 13th with 107 total wins • Azar is tied for 18th with 44 singles wins.
