LANCASTER, PA – Seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins rolled to a 7-0 win at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 4-1 on the season while the Diplomats fall to 0-2.
Hopkins got going early, winning all three doubles' matches to take the doubles' point.
Zoe Hsieh and
Audrey Wijono grabbed the first win of the day, beating Lorena Saavedra and Amelia Squires, 6-2, at number three doubles.
Sahana Madala and
Catharina Ausfahl then secured the doubles' point with a 6-1 win at two over Sahara Ahmad and Natalie Untermeyer.
Aubrey Zhou and
Sophia Kim completed the sweep as they beat Jenna Harrison and Mackenzie Sherman, 6-4, at number one.
Sahana Sanjeev wasted little time in giving the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead in the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sherman at number three singles.
Kamila Wong followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at four over Untermeyer. Kim clinched the win as prevailed in three sets 6-0, 2-6, 6-0 at number one over Harrison.
Sydney Langer handed a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Ahmad at two to push Hopkins' lead to 5-0. Zhou followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at number five over Rebecca Bellick. Hsieh capped the shutout as she lost just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kakie Colclough at six.
Hopkins is right back on the court on Sunday, February 23 as the Blue Jays visit the Swarthmore Garnet. The match is scheduled for an 11:00 am start at Michael Mullan Tennis Center.
