Johns Hopkins Best #29 Swarthmore, 5-2

SWARTHMORE, PA – Seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins wrapped up a stretch of three matches in three days with a 5-2 win at 29th-ranked Swarthmore Sunday. The Blue Jays improve to 5-1 while the Garnet fall to 0-2.
 
Hopkins grabbed the early 1-0 lead as the Blue Jays swept the doubles matches to pick up the doubles' point. Ava Li and Kamila Wong earned the first win of the day as they beat Nathalie Williams and Lola Diaz, 6-2, at number one. Jay Xiao and Lia Melvin then secured the point with a 6-4 win at two over Katheleen Shiffer and Erin Li. Sahana Madala and Sydney Langer completed the sweep when they beat Ella Strickler and Riya Rao 6-1 at number three.
 
Langer beat Diaz 6-4, 6-2 at number three singles to put Hopkins up 2-0. Xiao then prevailed in three sets over Williams 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at one. Li picked up a point for the Garnet as she beat Kim 6-7, 7-2, 6-2 at number two to make it a 3-1 match. Shiffer pulled Swarthmore within one as she beat Li 6-3, 6-3 at four. Sahana Sanjeev clinched the win for the Blue Jays with a 6-0, 6-2 win at five over Brianna Vets. Wong capped the win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Strickler at six.
 
Hopkins returns to action at the 2025 ITA National Team Indoor Championships. JHU will take on Pomona-Pitzer in the first round on Friday, February 28.
