CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Johns Hopkins won each of the relays on day one of the Cavalier Invitational Thursday night. The Blue Jays also posted six NCAA B qualifying times.
Hopkins opened the night with a one-two finish in the 200 Free Relay, including a pair of B times.
Elizabeth Cohen,
Jaya Veerapaneni,
Michelle Liu and
Anna Miler won the relay with a time of 1:33.53, an NCAA B time. Cohen also posted a career best and B time with her lead-off leg of 23.20. The team of
Carly White,
Kimberly Lan,
Alia Basler and
Alex Watson took second in 1:37.64.
Melissa Er then grabbed seventh place in the 500 Free, clocking with an NCAA B and career-best time of 5:00.00.
Meg Susil placed eighth (5:01.81) and
Julia Tuinman placed ninth (5:05.28).
Nyah Stahl led the Blue Jays with a 10
th place finish in the 200 IM, as she touched in 2:07.28.
Rachel Davis followed in 11
th place with a swim of 2:08.50.
Cohen then finished in fifth in the 50 Free, posting another NCAA B time, with a swim of 23.51.
Michelle Liu finished in a tie for eighth in 23.69. Veerapaneni finished in 23.80, beating Miler to the wall by just two-hundredths of a second, for 11
th place. Both Veerapaneni and Miler's (23.82) times are career bests.
The Blue Jays ended the night the way it started, with first and second place finishes in a relay. Veerapaneni,

Kate Petitt and Cohen won the relay with an NCAA B time of 3:46.94. In addition, Veerapaneni's lead-off leg of 55.89 is an NCAA B time. Lan,
Katherine Chelus,
Ken Lee and Basler followed in second place in 3:58.01.
Hopkins returns to the pool on Friday, February 7 for day two of the Cavalier Invitational.
