GRANTHAM, PA – Johns Hopkins graduate student
Chris Roybal closed his career on Saturday with a fifth-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Region 3 Championships at Messiah. Roybal went 4-2 at the championships to earn his fifth-place showing.

Already assured of a top-eight finish entering the day on Saturday, Roybal scored a 17-3 major decision of NYU's
Hassan Khan to move into the consolation semifinals. Roybal led just 3-1 after one period against Khan, but used an escape and two takedowns in the second period to push out to a 10-2 lead and then tacked on two more takedowns and a point of riding time to secure the 17-3 major decision.

In the consolation semifinals, Roybal drew Messiah's
Keegan Demarest and dropped a 10-1 decision to slip into the fifth-place mach. There, he polished off his career with a decisive 10-3 win over
Justice Hockenberry-Folk (Etown). Roybal led just 3-2 after Hockenberry-Folk scored an early third-period escape, but he sandwiched a pair of takedowns in the final 100 seconds around a Hockenberry-Folk escape and added a riding time point to secure the 10-3 victory.

With his 4-2 mark this weekend, Roybal finishes the season at 27-11 and caps his career with a 62-30 record.
Johns Hopkins finished 15th in the final team standings with 19.0 points. TCNJ grabbed the team title with 174.5 points, while Alvernia (137.5), Messiah (128.5), NYU (115.5) and Merchant Marine (97.5) rounded out the top five in te final team standings.
