Game Notes | It's Hopkins-Navy for the 94th Time

Blue Jays, Midshipmen Under the Lights in Annapolis

The Game
•  Johns Hopkins (5-2) wraps up the non-conference portion of its 2025 regular-season schedule as the Blue Jays make the short trip to Annapolis to take on Navy (4-2).  Faceoff is set for 7 pm with a live stream of the game on ESPN+.

When Last We Saw Them
•  Johns Hopkins dropped a 13-10 decision at 11th-ranked Syracuse on Sunday.
• Like Johns Hopkins, Navy also dropped its last game as the Midshipmen dropped a 13-8 decision to Lehigh in a Patriot League game at home last Friday night.

The Facts
•  This is the 138th season of Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse.  JHU first fielded a team in 1883.
•  Johns Hopkins enters this week's game with an all-time record of 1,032-377-15 (.730).
• Johns Hopkins is the only men's lacrosse program in the nation with 1,000 or more all-time victories.  The Blue Jays picked up the program's 1,000th victory with an 11-10 win over Loyola on February 19, 2022.
•  JHU owns 44 national championships with nine NCAA titles, 29 USILA titles and six ILA crowns to its credit.

Poll Position
• Johns Hopkins is ranked 11th in this week's USILA Coaches Poll and also checks in at number 11 in the KANE Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
• Navy is listed as receiving votes in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the KANE Inside Lacrosse Media Polls this week.

Poll Notes of Interest
• Including this week's poll, the USILA has issued 561 polls since the debut poll in 1973.  Johns Hopkins has appeared in the top 20 in 538 of those 561 polls and has been ranked in the top 10 in 452 of the 561.

Series History
• Johns Hopkins and Navy will be meeting for the 94th time this week.  The series dates to a 6-1 Johns Hopkins victory in 1908.  The Blue Jays are 63-29-1 all-time against the Midshipmen.
• A complete look at the series history can be found on page 17.

Brotherly Love
• One week after Johns Hopkins midfielder Brooks English looked across the field at Syracuse and saw older brother Sam English playing for the Orange, another Blue Jay will do the same thing.
• Johns Hopkins freshman Liam Gregorek is the younger brother of Gavin Gregorek, who is a senior midfielder for the Midshipmen, and Alec Gregorek, who is a freshman attackman for the Midshipmen.

Sticking Together
• Johns Hopkins has six players on its 2025 roster that played at Lawrenceville (NJ) in high school.  The six - Hunter Chauvette, Reece DiCicco, Brooks English, Tyler Eye, Quintan Kilrain and Chuck Rawson - make the Blue Jays one of just four Division I teams with six players from the same high school.

On This Date
• This week's game will be the ninth game Johns Hopkins has played on March 15 and the second against Navy.
• Johns Hopkins is 3-5 all-time in games played on March 15, including a 10-9 overtime loss to Navy last season.
• Four of Johns Hopkins' last five games played on March 15 have been decided by one goal and the last five have been decided by two goals or less.

Streaking - Part I
• Johns Hopkins had a nine-game regular season winning streak snapped with the recent 13-12 loss to North Carolina.  The nine-game run was the longest regular-season winning streak for Johns Hopkins since the Blue Jays won 15 straight between 2011-2012.
• Despite the tight loss to the Tar Heels and last week's 13-10 loss at 11th-ranked Syracuse, the Blue Jays are 10-2 in their last 12 regular season games.

Streaking - Part II
• JHU had a national-best nine-game road winning streak snapped with the 13-10 loss at Syracuse.
• The loss was the first for the Blue Jays on the road since a 12-11 double-overtime loss at Penn State on April 8, 2023.
• The nine-game road winning streak was the longest for the Blue Jays since a nine-game run from 1987-89.
• The nine-game run is also tied for the third-longest winning streak in true road games in program history.

Against the Patriot League
•  This week's game against Navy will be the 262nd all-time for Johns Hopkins against a team currently in the Patriot League.
•  Johns Hopkins is 197-63-1 (.757) all-time against current Patriot League members.
•  223 of the 260 games the Blue Jays have played against Patriot League members have come against Army (69), Loyola (61) and Navy (93).

• Ten different players have recorded at least one multi-goal game this season with Hunter Chauvette (4), Matt Collison (4) and Russell Melendez (3) leading the way.
• Three of the top four scorers through seven games have at least one year of eligibility remaining after the 2025 season and two of the four have at least two years remaining.
• Johns Hopkins had a player score five goals against North Carolina (Russell Melendez) and Virginia (Hunter Chauvette).  This marked the first time JHU has had different players score five or more goals in back-to-back games since Cole Williams (Maryland) and Kyle Marr (Georgetown) did it late in the 2018 season.
